Electrocardiography (EKG)

Our Electrocardiography (EKG) Technician program prepares you to play a vital role in today’s healthcare system by training you to accurately perform electrocardiograms used to monitor and evaluate heart conditions. This course combines classroom instruction with hands-on practice, focusing on cardiac anatomy and physiology, EKG equipment operation, lead placement, and interpretation of basic rhythms.

Upon completion of the course, students will be eligible to sit for a national certification exam through the National Healthcareer Association. Start your career in healthcare by learning the essential skills needed to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating heart-related conditions.

ҳ Information

The ҳ Electrocardiography program is open to any person at least 18-years-old at the start of the course, along with the following requirements:

  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Be able to effectively communicate orally and in-writing with English
  • Have a basic understanding of computers and access to email
  • Be physically able to stand for prolonged periods and maneuver in limited spaces
  • Be able to push/pull/lift 50+ pounds

Registration

  • .
    • Select “Electrocardiography Application” under Topic Code, and then press search.
    • The "EKG Application" should populate, then click on "Select" to the right.
    • Select "Add Section" and then select "Next" on the top right corner.
    • Complete the "Personal Details" portion to apply for the program
    • Click "Submit" on the bottom and complete the "Additional Details" Once completed with that select "Submit" 
    • Click the "Register" option
    • The ҳ and Advising Specialist will contact you with the next steps.
  • A member of CEWD will contact you with your next steps for registration into the program.
  • Payment in full is due at the time of registration.

Course Description

Fundamentals of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology. Includes basic electrocardiography procedures, interpretation of basic dysrhythmias, and appropriate treatment modalities.
