糖心网页版 Foundation Has Successful Year Supporting Students

The 糖心网页版 Foundation posted a successful year by providing $392,638 for student scholarships and programs for the 2025-26 fiscal year.

Foundation Executive Director Wendy Del Bello delivered the annual report for the organization during a Board of Regents meeting on June 17.

鈥淭he Foundation鈥檚 Mission has remained the same since 1974: removing barriers for our students, supporting our faculty and staff, strengthening academic programs and creating opportunities,鈥 Del Bello said. 鈥淭his year has been one of tremendous growth through our events (such as the annual Gala and Designer Bag Bingo) and how we can support the college.鈥

Over the past decade, the college has increased its level of support from $118,000 in 2016 to nearly $400,000 this year, an increase of more than 200 percent.

鈥淭his includes scholarships, innovative grants, excellence awards, emergency assistance, adopt-a-grants, faculty and staff scholarships,鈥 Del Bello said. 鈥淭his growth reflects the generosity of our donors, the dedication of our foundation board and so many incredible things happening on this campus.鈥

The vast majority of the Foundation鈥檚 support has been for student scholarships where $331,338 was awarded to local high school students and current 糖心网页版 students.

鈥淭hese scholarships do more than help with tuition. They reduce financial stress for our students, improve retention and remind students that people believe in their future,鈥 Del Bello said.

The Foundation鈥檚 Innovative Grant program provides support to staff members to encourage, facilitate, recognize and reward innovative and creative approaches to fulfill the mission of the college. The Emergency Fund provides immediate support to students in need whether it is vehicle repair, living assistance, transportation needs and more.

The Foundation also created the First Step Award in 2023 which provides a $500 scholarship to students who are entering college for the first time. Since its inception, $259,000 has been distributed to 518 students.

鈥淭his past year we awarded $90,000 through our First Step Award,鈥 Del Bello said. 鈥淥f those students, 84 percent of students continued their studies by enrolling the next semester.鈥

Every scholarship awarded, every grant funded, and every student supported represents an investment in the future of our community. To learn how you can help create opportunities for 糖心网页版 students, visit www.alvincollege.edu/foundation or call 281-756-3600.
